How To Pull Off A Summer Wedding

Summer Wedding Tips

Summer is synonymous with gorgeous weather and lifelong memories with family and friends; which is why so many couples plan to wed during these fun-filled months. But many couples tend to overlook mother nature, and sometimes she can have an off day. If you're planning your nuptials for the summer season, follow these tips and tricks.

I. KEEP IT COOL

Come up with a few ways for your guests to escape the heat. Shaded areas, air-conditioned spaces, cold drinks, fans and plenty of water will keep your guests comfortable and happy.

II. SERVE A LIGHTER MEAL

Heavy food and hot temperatures are not a good look-on anyone. Instead, make sure to have lighter food options that contain seasonal/local produce and maybe opt for a more refreshing dessert option such as popsicles!

More importantly, please talk with your caterer to ensure that all menu items will be stored properly. Leaving items out in the heat can turn into a BIG mess.

III. PROTECT YOURSELF & YOUR GUESTS

If portions of your event will be held outdoors, make sure to offer sun protection. Sunblock, umbrellas, sunglasses, etc. can make all the difference. If you plan to have metal chairs, consider chair cushions to so guests don't burn themselves. Bug spray should also be provided for the evening hours.

IV. LIGHTER FABRIC

When shopping for a wedding gown, choose a lighter fabric that breathes. The same goes for the groom when shopping for a tux.

V. TALK WITH YOUR FLORIST

Avoid wilted florals by discussing the best possible flowers for the season, transportation and storage with your florist. You may want to even purchase a few "backup blooms" such as boutonnieres should they begining drooping at any point in time.

VI. PLAN YOUR PICTURES

Consult with your photographer about the best lighting throughout the day. Morning and afternoon/evening will most likely be your best bet.
