Wedding Registry Checklist

Central California Wedding Planner

Creating your wedding registry is the first sneak peek into life after "I Do". This is the time when you and your partner can talk about home essentials, entertaining must haves and most importantly, discovering your style together. While there are many pretty and shiny distracting things {AKA Pinterest and the aisles of Target}, we want to help cover some basic rules of thumb. So follow our tips {and cheat sheet} to the perfect registry!

I. TAKE INVENTORY

First things first, make a list of what you have. This will help you to determine what you are missing and what could use an upgrade. Also, don't be afraid to register soon after your engagement. Family and friends are going to want to start sending gifts as soon as possible.

II. MAKE A LIST

A list will make registering a much easier and simple process. Discuss style + colors with your partner and what items are most essential. Don't forget to examine your lifestyle and determine what is most practical, if you don't do much cooking then home decor could be more of a priority.

III. SELECT YOUR STORES

This is the fun part! Spend time researching what stores fit your needs and are within reason. We recommend selecting up to three separate stores to keep things simple. A few of our favorite stores include Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and Sur La Table.

IV. DON'T RUSH - YOU HAVE TIME

You don't have to register for every item at once, nor go to each store in one day. Take your time and enjoy the process, and if you happen to miss anything you can always add it later.

REAL TALK: It is always a good item to go on online after you receive gifts to make sure the item has been updated properly {and send thank you notes}. This will help to keep you and your guests on track of what is still up for grabs.
